MURPHY
THANKS NORCAL GOLDEN RESCUE!

Thanks to NORCAL Golden Rescue, Murphy (LCHS Rufus) has a new happy home in Northern California. He was brought in to the LCHS Center, with another Golden, by people who did not want to care for them anymore - Now he has a happy life again!

PULGAS sure looks happy in his new home in NEW YORK!

SEÑOR

Adopting Senor was probably the farthest thing from our mind the night Pete and I went to the Annual Golf and Silent Auction affair at the Cabo Del Sol Resort.  We have loved and have supported every major function the Humane Shelter has held for the 5 years we have lived in Cabo..and always have come home with fun winnings from the Silent Auctions...but not with a cat or dog.  After all..we have had 3 - 4 other cats at home already!!

After a delightful dinner, some bidding on great events..which we did win a few...we were leaving the event going by the animals in cages up for adoption.  As we walked by, a number of delightful Humane Shelter volunteers were there, getting the not so lucky animals that had not been adopted that night ready to go back to the shelter.  That's when it ALL started!

Our reputation is out..we like cats..and like I said already had had 4 -5 all the time since moving to Cabo.  Before we knew it...we met Senor. What a beautiful cat he was!  Big Frank Sinatra Eyes, beautiful markings and BIG!  Seventeen pounds we found out later!  The cage was opened, and there he was in my arms..a gentle soul he was.  Trusting, calm, and Big like I said!  I liked him...immediately.  I had my husband, Pete hold him..and the promptings were...well..they were there..Maggie, Ginny, Aida...and others!!  Take him...he's is our favorite!  Everyone loves Senor!  You will too!

Pete and I looked at each other..and well...he was hard to resist.  Nice temperment..beautiful...and those eyes!!  I said to Pete.."I am in if you are..."  And he just looked at me...(ladies..when they don't say anthing right away..that is a good sign!)  Pete agreed and we said yes.  We were assured that if it didn't work out we could return him..and that helped a little..but I think I knew in my heart it would be okay.

Senor is now the Alpha in our home..and it has been delightful to have him in our family and to see him actually have a home he can call his own.  He has become a family member...loves his treats every morning...and even has become a bit of a beggar in the softest and gentlest mew when I am cooking.  Of course...I do soften...can you imagine living in a cage for 2 or more years??  And then becoming free?  And being so lucky to have a family that loves you and takes good care of you?  I think he really does appreciate us..and I get a gentle kiss from him every now and then...when we lay together and I pet him.

Many of us, like Pete and I, that already have animals..think, one more??  Oh, no...that will be too much.  But let me say this...opening our hearts and letting one more in..one more cat, one more dog, one more needy animal..does really more that just give an animal a home.  It helps us realize the expansive power of love, the expansive power of saying yes, the expansive power of being open.

Try it today.  Try it this week.  Try it at the next Humane Shelter event...or better yet..just do it the Nike way...
and...Just Do It!!  You will be glad...and so will that new member of your family.

And..thank you..from the heart of the world...the best people in earth..the needy animals of the world.

PERLA

When walking of of the dogs at the shelter I fell for "Perla" a young female boxer and
decided to take her home to join my 4 year old lab.
They both have great temperments and they are getting along well.
I would like to be part of the association if possible...
If an extra hand is needed during upcoming events - count me in.

LOLA

Boy do we miss you guys! I can't tell you enough what an amazing experience it was for my whole family getting to hang out with you guys and the dogs & cats at the center. We're counting the days until we get to come back. It was hard to leave all the precious animals but it's comforting knowing they are so loved and cared for by all of you.

Lola is doing great and she did great on the plane and we had zero issues with Customs. She is slowly getting used to her new house and her new doggie sisters, Ciara and Bella. Watching her slowly come to life has been both elating and heart breaking at the same time. It's clear her previous life severely deprived her of love and normalcy. But she's coming around and learning that we love her and that she can trust us to take care of her.

It's only been one week that I've known her and my heart is bursting with love for her!!! I'm so happy we were able to adopt her. Attached is a picture we took of her in her soft kennel carry-on before boarding the plane on Friday.
Hope all of you are doing well and staying cool! Miss you guys.

Big hugs,
Amanda

LILY

We have donated time and necessities to the Cabo Humane Society but last year was our first adoption. We went to the facility in hopes of finding a young (6 mos – 1 year) dog that would adapt to our pack (3 lge dogs) at home. Unfortunately, there were none that met those requirements BUT then we saw Lily. She was barely 6 weeks old (if that) and had just been left at the center. She was with 2 other puppies that I don’t think were siblings.

They all had their first parvo shots but only time would tell. We brought Lily home and she got sick. We hand fed her high calorie food and water with a dropper. She was barely 4 pounds. She seemed to be getting worse. I had heard that the other 2 puppies had died even with excellent care and vet help. By day 4 she was starting to eat regular food and seemed not to have a fever. Now she is just over a year and the light of my life. She goes everywhere with me. She loves the car, camping, beach and our other dogs. She IS the perfect dog.

CHATO

Thought I would share this with you. This is why we spend those hours on fundraisers, why we donate our time, why we love the dogs and cats.

Chato came into us with his brother who sadly did not make it. They had been left behind when a family moved out. We don;t know how long they had been on their own, but fortunately a neighbour found them and brought them to us. They were quarnatined for 5 months! When Chato finally came out of quarantine he waited just a few short weeks before a volunteer met a lady on her time share tour, who rescues boxers. The rest is history. Chato is happily living in the US.
Save these pics in case you ever wonder again why we love to help the animals!!

Sending a very Merry Christmas out to all of our dear friends!  We hope you have the merriest of holidays and an even merrier 2010!  It's a whole new decade...with all new possibilities!

We had another extremely busy and chaotic year this past year (1/2 fun and 1/2 just chaos!), and as much as I wish I had the time to write a nice newsy update...I don't!   But here are a few photo collages we made up that can at least show you 'some' of what we were up to this past year.  I know...no shots of jetskiing, or boating, or riding our dirtbikes, or Todd racing...not even all the trips we took, but it's a pretty good display for my last minute ditch effort!  Lol!

The past few years we have been hit with some real zingers right before the holidays, and as much as I wanted to get cards & letters & photos out to so many friends that truly DO mean so much to us, I just could not.  I might've been able to get a few trickled out, but not many.  And the last thing I want is to lose contact with all the friends that have graced our lives and shared so many good times!  Even if we only correspond once or twice a year, I LOVE hearing from you and look soooo forward to it!

So we hope you thoroughly enjoy this wonderful season, and wish you health, happiness, and every good thing in the New Year!

Aloha nui loa,     Todd, Debbie, and all of our pooches...

MITTENS

Here is a photo of my granddaughter Gracie
with her new kitten "Mittens".

Mittens loves his new family --
5 humans and
he is #3 rescued cat.

The humans all adore him --
he is so playful and loving.

He has only met one of the
other felines in the house
and it was rather
uneventful (which is good).
