Our goal is to create an environment free of the unwanted, stray, and diseased animals that are left to wander our streets. Many of these animals are simply abandoned as families move to other cities.
The Humane Society of Cabo San Lucas is focused toward the end result of all domestic animals in Cabo San Lucas having a safe and loving home. Along with this goal come many side benefits, such as streets safe to walk at night without encountering packs of roaming dogs and above all streets free of contamination creating a cleaner more sanitary environment for everyone be they two legged or four legged.
The Society has a annual budget of just under $100,000 USD for shelter expenses. Each healthy dog accepted into the shelter has initial costs of $100 USD to vaccinate, spay/neuter and treat for internal and external parasites. This cost does not include the daily expenses of food, water, electricity, cleaning supplies or staff to mention a few.
Dogs and cats in need of special medical treatment to help them qualify for adoption can double this preliminary cost within days of their arrival. Anyone that rescues a dog that can sponsor the dog or cat by paying the processing expenses enables the Society to help another animal that arrives without a sponsor.
What many people don’t realize is that every expense incurred in helping the animals has to come from donations. The Society has no funding from the government or any other official source.
There is no government agency to come to the aid of the animal population. There is no state run facility or program to offer services to the animals living on the Baja peninsula.
